OOYALA APPOINTS FORMER ADOBE EXECUTIVE TO LEAD OPERATIONS IN AUSTRALIA

John Treloar will head up Ooyala in Sydney

(MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA) September 01, 2010 – Ooyala is announcing its plan to expand its operations to Australia. The company has appointed John Treloar, former Adobe executive, as Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).

Ooyala is well known for its comprehensive, business-ready video platform designed for media companies and web marketers. Ooyala’s platform includes sophisticated analytics which give publishers the insights and power to better target videos and advertising.

“Video is exploding on the Australian corner of the Internet and customers are demanding a reliable platform for hosting and analyzing their online video,” said John Treloar, Managing Director at Ooyala. He adds, “because of our common language with the biggest economies in the world, Ooyala’s platform gives Australian publishers the ability to build, scale and promote global online video businesses.”

Ooyala is headquartered in Silicon Valley and has offices in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Paris. Ooyala’s video platform, Backlot, simplifies the entire process of bringing video online – from transcoding to managing, publishing, analyzing, and increasing revenues from online video assets. Ooyala does not require a technology installation (it is a “software as a service” offering), and customers can immediately use Ooyala’s advanced features to manage and measure their online video.

The Australian market has over 90% internet adoption and broadband penetration of over 60%, making it a prime market for online video. In the last year, Ooyala has seen increasing interest from local customers in its service.

Ross Forgione, CIO at Austereo Group Ltd, one of Australia's most progressive and exciting entertainment based media companies headquartered in Sydney, says, “We’re delighted with how Ooyala has made online video a real and simple success for us. And now Ooyala is an even better option, given it’s always better to do business with a company that’s investing in the local market.”`

“We see tremendous opportunity in the Asia Pacific region,” says Jay Fulcher, President and CEO of Ooyala. “We’ve had some early success with local customers and count some of the biggest companies in the region as partners or customers. With our expansion to Australia, we plan to not only grow in the local market, but to use this as a springboard into Southeast Asia.”

Austereo joins a list of international customers that includes Telegraph Media Group, Arsenal Football Club, Electronic Arts and Red Bull. Each of these companies has embraced online video as a strategic imperative, and they are using Ooyala to publish and monetize their content. They rely on Ooyala’s easy-to-use interface, powerful reporting, and flexible tools to deliver streaming video anytime, anywhere to millions of viewers around the globe.

There have been several recent announcements regarding product launches and channel partner signings that continue to position Ooyala as the online video leader:
