Dalet and Harris Provide Integrated Production for Broadcast News

Integration leverages shared storage server environment of NEXIO and Dalet’s integrated newsroom solution

Dalet, a world leader in advanced, end-to-end production tools for today’s multichannel newsrooms is collaborating with Harris Corporation to integrate the newsroom computer system module of its Dalet News Suite NRCS with Harris® NEXIO® broadcast servers. The project includes the development of an integrated news production and playout workflow featuring Dalet news production tools for editing news packages and managing wires, assignments and rundowns with NEXIO content ingest and distribution across broadcast channels managed by Harris servers.

The integration leverages the true shared storage server environment of NEXIO and Dalet’s integrated newsroom solution, offering customers versatile workflows with flexible media interchange and play-to-air demanded by modern news production systems. Dalet and Harris are also exploring ActiveX support to help journalists search for and view video stored on NEXIO servers directly from the Dalet NRCS. This solution uses the NEXIO server system to access multimedia content and metadata during ingest, adding speed and efficiency to Dalet NRCS users where fast access to video material is needed.

“As an open solutions provider, it is our commitment to remain open and integrate best of breed technology with our Dalet solutions. It is our philosophy to let our customers make the choice with regards to the way they want to work, and with which system they want to work with,” said Kevin Savina, Director of Product Management, Dalet.
